Abstract
This study investigated whether or not music impacts the lives of AB English students of Central Philippine University. Forty or 62.5% of the target respondents from the Department of Languages, Mass Communications and Humanities participated in the survey with a quantitative descriptive approach. A questionnaire was used with three parts measuring their demographic features, different views and preferences on music, and their socialization and academic status. The results showed that majority of the respondents are females, ages 18-20 years old, and are Catholics. Most are in their 3rd year of college. They live in their own houses which are located in the city, belong to an average sized family particularly of 4 with a high monthly income of P51,000- above. They prefer listening to Rhythm n’ Blues or Alternative songs performed by famous American Bands or performers. In terms of relationship, music does not affect the respondents’ social life or academic life in any way. The AB English majors of CPU can very much socialize or perform without the help of music.
