요약
Public Health Nurses are utilizing managerial practices in order to perform the expected task as managers of the community. This study aimed to describe the extent of managerial practices of Public Health Nurses, their personal characteristics such as age, sex, civil status, educational attainment, years of experience and number of trainings and seminars attended and their relationship with managerial practices. This descriptive-correlational research design using one shot was used to establish a meaningful output. SPSS version 20 was utilized to analyze data gathered. There were 108 nurses who were occupying plantilla position from the provinces of Capiz and Iloilo from January to February 2019, and they willingly involved themselves in the study as respondents. The two-part research instrument was subjected for validation and was pre-tested to the Public Health Nurses who are not part of the study population. Data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire. The findings of the study revealed that Public Health Nurses were ages 35 to 50 years old, married and dominantly female. Majority of them are college graduates and have been in service for 11 to 20 years with at least 20 trainings/seminars attended in the last five years. Most of the PHNs have high extent of managerial practices. Among the four sub-parts, planning is highly utilized by most of the respondents. Age, sex, years of experience and trainings/seminars attended by the respondents showed no relationship to their managerial practices. Widowed nurses have a high extent of managerial practices than those single and married nurses. It is revealed that PHNs with higher educational attainment have exhibited greater extent of managerial practices.
