University of Iloilo crushed co-defending champion University of San Agustin, 97-76 last week to take the solo lead in the ongoing men's basketball tournament of the Iloilo Student's Amateur Athletic Association at the University of San Agustin gymnasium.

Also moving up splendidly was Central Philippine University, which recovered from back-to-back losses to UI and San Agustin in their first two assignments to score three straight wins; 104-61 over IDC, 105-60 over West Visayas State University and 74-73 over WVCST.
