摘要
This is a descriptive-relational study. It investigated the demographic profile of the respondents. Reading habits in terms of hours spent in reading and volume of printed, digital and online materials read were considered and their grammar skills were tested to see if these variables are related. A one-shot questionnaire was used to gather data from 40 respondents. Results revealed that the respondents are 18-19 years old, females, graduated from public high schools of the regular curriculum and are equally enrolled in AB English and BSED English. They are middle-class, belonging to nuclear families and live in urban areas. They prefer to read articles and spend 5 hours or more reading printed books and 1 - 2 hours reading digital books in a month. They read 1 -2 hours weekly online. Majority read 0-2 printed books, 1-2 digital books monthly and but do not read online in a week. The time spent in reading online materials in a week, volume of printed and digital books read per month, and the volume of online materials read by the English majors in a week are significantly related to their grammar skills. However, time spent in reading printed and digital books have no bearing with their grammar skills. It means that the volume of material read influences the grammar skills more than the time spent reading.
