A content analysis of Ratsada Sa Radyo program of DYSI Super Radyo

Abstract

The study is a content analysis of the program Ratsada sa Radyo of DYSI Super Radyo. The research design is descriptive with content analysis as the specific method used. The coverage of the radio program utilized in this study was taken from December 26 to December 30, 2011. The content of the theme focuses on political and social issues such as: Neglect of Duty Of Public Officials, MIWD Water Contamination Issue, Inactivity of MIWD Official to React to Water Contamination Issue, Irresponsible Act and Neglect of Duty of MIWD Officials, Illegal Firing and Fire Cracker Awareness, MIWD’s Delay to Respond to Issue of Water Contamination and Performance Rating of Iloilo City Officials. The summary of findings showed the following: Ratsada sa Radyo is a commentary radio program of DYSI Super Radyo and classified as News and Current Affairs Program, aired every Monday to Saturday, 8:30 to 10:00 in the morning. Moreover, the program is anchored by Jonathan G. Gellangarin the station manager of the DYSI Super Radyo. Most of the topics presented in the program focus on political themes, specifically the MIWD Water Contamination Issue. Same through with the MIWD water contamination issue, there are some social problems present in Iloilo city also suffered from negligence of the local officials to perform their duty and responsibility as public servants.
