Résumé
This study deals with the design and development of a digital imaging, preservation and access system for the Mizo Literature Collection in the library of Tahan Theological College to enhance and improve the availability of the printed Mizo Literature Collection in the library. Mizo Literature Collection is a special local collection that covers all the subjects in the different fields which are written in Mizo language. There are also some collections of different subjects written in Burmese language, Mizo language, and other Chin ethnic related dialects. There are more than one thousand titles in the Mizo Literature Collection in the library of Tahan Theological College. This study involves the development of a standard format and guidelines for the digitization of the collections to preserve the digital objects by using a qualified imaging device, a specific e-book managing and storage system that comply with legal, authentication and copyright law. This study concludes that the design and development of the digital preservation system for the Mizo Literature Collection is feasible as shown by a simulated pretest of the digitization process.
