Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) are the most common type of healthcare-associated infections. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices of nurses on infection control in the use of urethral catheters in a private hospital in Iloilo City. A total of 30 nurses participated as respondents. The result revealed that nurses have low level of knowledge and poor infection control practices in the use of urethral catheters. The nurses’ level of knowledge has a bearing on their practices on infection control in the use of urethral catheters. In view of the fact that low level of knowledge is related to poor infection control practices, nurses need continuous education and trainings in the use of urethral catheters in order to prevent and decrease incidence of CAUTI.en_US
