<description>The design and development of Sqoop: Newsroom content discovery and management tool
Gappe, Francis Mathew M.; Sevilla, Marsry Jan S.; Suminguit, James Ivan P.
The newsgathering process contributes to most of the time spent in news production. According to an interview with journalists in the province and city of Iloilo, Philippines, this takes an average of six hours of their time. Alleviating the current situation in the newsroom on research and news monitoring becomes the main focus of the development of this study. Sqoop is a newsroom content discovery and management tool that aims to provide users with an efficient way of monitoring news online. Specifically, it wanted to address the time-consuming process of monitoring, tracking specific topics, and verifying the information they found. The application was made using Nodejs and React with Typescript. The application was evaluated by members of six active student publications of Central Philippine University using ISO/IEC/25010 consisting of the following qualities: functional suitability, performance efficiency, usability, reliability, and security. The application obtained an overall mean of 4.33 equivalent to an "Excellent" rating.

<title>The design and development of AR SNS: A 3D scan and share furniture visualization software application</title>
<link>https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12852/3674</link>
<description>The design and development of AR SNS: A 3D scan and share furniture visualization software application
Abagat, Elimjoyce C.; Mallare, Edelynn P.; Siroy, Ayesha Danielle P.
This thesis presents the development of a subscription-based 3D Scan and Share furniture visualization software application that harnesses the capabilities of photogrammetry technology and augmented reality (AR) to enable furniture shop users to scan their products, generate 3D models, and share them with customers, enabling an immersive product experience with a "try before you buy" approach. By leveraging AR technology, furniture shop customers can virtually place and view their desired furniture items within their own space, facilitating informed purchasing decisions. Additionally, the software application enables users to capture the AR scene and share it with others remotely, encouraging collaboration and obtaining valuable feedback for improved product selection. The implementation of this software application is expected to contribute to several benefits for furniture shops, including enhanced customer satisfaction, increased sales, reduced product returns, and an overall improvement in the customer experience. By combining the potential of photogrammetry and AR technologies, this thesis aims to revolutionize the process of furniture visualization and purchase, transforming the way customers interact with and evaluate furniture products. The research methodology involved in the design and development of the software application, utilizes photogrammetry techniques for 3D model generation and integration of AR capabilities for immersive visualization. Usability testing and user feedback were gathered through interactions with furniture shop customers, ensuring the effectiveness and user-friendliness of the application. Through this thesis project, a novel solution is presented that addresses the limitations of traditional furniture shopping experiences. Combining photogrammetry and AR technologies, it offers a promising opportunity for the furniture industry. Customers can make better-informed purchasing decisions, while furniture shops gain a competitive advantage in the market.

<title>The design and development of AutoCare: A software application for connecting car owners and automotive service provider</title>
<link>https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12852/3668</link>
<description>The design and development of AutoCare: A software application for connecting car owners and automotive service provider
Lerado, Paul Vincent A.; Prudente, Rafael III J.; Yu, Candace Hyacinth G.
This thesis presents the design and development of AutoCare, a comprehensive mobile software application aimed at bridging the gap between car owners and automotive service providers. The primary objective of AutoCare was to offer a centralized platform where car owners can efficiently find, book, and engage with verified automotive service providers, enhancing their overall experience and satisfaction. An automotive services directory, booking capabilities, real-time in-app messaging, and a feedback system were just a few of the user-friendly modules that AutoCare included. Furthermore, the app incorporates Google Maps to give drivers instant roadside assistance and locate approved service providers in the area in the event of an emergency. Agile Scrum practices were used in the research methodology, and technologies like Flutter, Dart, Firebase, Firebase Authentication, and GitHub Actions were utilized for development and deployment. The application's efficacy, usability, and market readiness were confirmed by extensive market validation that included surveys and usability testing with auto owners and service providers. It was anticipated that AutoCare's deployment would greatly increase customer satisfaction, streamline service operations, increase accessibility to automotive services, and encourage digitalization in the Philippine automotive sector. Car owners' interactions with automotive service providers had significantly improved. Thanks to AutoCare's integration of strong technological solutions and adherence to industry best practices, which also addresses important issues facing the automotive community.

<description>The design and development of Kulturang Pinoy: A mobile 2D game
Dela Cruz, Jiverlee; Lomigo, Kyle Dominic; Solas, Kert Jem; Tardaguela, Angelika Mari
Traditional Philippine history education struggles with low engagement and retention, with 49.8% of 221 surveyed students finding lectures unengaging, 40.7% struggling with complex concepts, and 37.1% saying history is irrelevant. This thesis presents Kulturang Pinoy, a 2D mobile role-playing game designed to enhance interest and understanding of Philippine history and culture through interactive learning. The objectives were to develop an engaging platform with a historical encyclopedia and mini-games reflecting Filipino cultural practices. Developed using Unity, Firebase for authentication and cloud storage, and Agile Scrum methodology for the software development life cycle, the game features three narrative acts: Life Before Colonization, The Battle for Mactan, and Confrontation with Sakim while integrating mini-games (e.g., boat-rowing, quizzes) and an unlockable encyclopedia. Usability tests with 30 participants (aged 9–27) achieved 95.3% success in authentication, 100% in encyclopedia access, and 94.9% in mini-game completion, improving from pre-final results (92%, 100%, 70%) after fixing glitchy animations and login issues, though minor jump animation and background visual concerns persisted. Surveys showed 78.3% of students found interactive methods effective in learning history (50.2% said effective and 28.1% said highly effective) and 62.5% of 136 parents were likely to encourage game use. Kulturang Pinoy successfully merges education and technology, encouraging deeper cultural appreciation through engaging gameplay, with recommendations for enhanced graphics, expanded historical eras, and cross-platform compatibility to broaden its educational impact.
