<title>Shared governance in community-oriented tourist destinations: An exploratory case study</title>
<link>https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12852/3719</link>
<description>Shared governance in community-oriented tourist destinations: An exploratory case study
Maravilla, Vicente S. Jr
Shared governance is vital for managing community-oriented tourism destinations and promoting stakeholder empowerment through collaboration, participatory decision making, and sustainable development. However, its practical implementation is complex due to varying levels of engagement and governance challenges. This study examines the collaborative dynamics of shared governance in community-oriented tourism, focusing on factors influencing stakeholder engagement, difficulties in implementation, and impacts on sustainability and community empowerment. Conducted in Ormoc City, Philippines, the qualitative research involved in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with 13 stakeholders, including local government, tourism associations, businesses, and community groups. The thematic analysis highlighted that effective shared governance relies on multi-stakeholder engagement, strong public-private partnerships, trust, accountability, and clear roles. Challenges include conflicting priorities, resource constraints, power imbalances, and bureaucratic barriers. Despite these obstacles, shared governance fosters tourism sustainability by enhancing organization, inclusive decision-making, creating livelihood opportunities, and promoting community-led conservation. Policymakers should strengthen stakeholder coordination, develop equitable resource distribution, and address systemic challenges to improve effectiveness. These insights are valuable for local governments and tourism leaders aiming for sustainable tourism and community empowerment.

<title>Analysis of environmental literacy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) competence among community leaders: Bases for technology-assisted module for green management advocates</title>

<description>Analysis of environmental literacy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) competence among community leaders: Bases for technology-assisted module for green management advocates
Jimlan, Ju-im T.
This study assessed the environmental literacy and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) competence of community leaders in Aklan to develop a Technology-Assisted Green Management Module aimed at enhancing sustainability leadership. Using the ADDIE Model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), the study systematically examined leaders’ knowledge and skills. Surveys, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) identified gaps in environmental literacy and SDG competence, highlighting disparities based on age, sex, and geography. Thematic analysis revealed that while leaders had some awareness, their practical application of sustainability practices was limited, particularly among younger and marginalized groups. The module was designed using the KAP Framework (Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices) to address these gaps. Experts in environmental education and technology-based learning ensured its quality, cultural relevance, and adaptability. Implementation involved pre and post-tests, facebook-based learning, and capacity-building seminars. Statistical analysis showed significant improvements in environmental knowledge, attitudes, and sustainability practices. Evaluation through surveys, observations, and interviews confirmed the module’s effectiveness but highlighted areas for enhancement, such as emotional engagement and digital interactivity. A strong positive correlation between environmental literacy and SDG competence was found, emphasizing the importance of sustainability education. The study recommends multi-stakeholder collaboration among government agencies, NGOs, educational institutions, and community leaders to integrate SDGs into local policies and strengthen sustainability leadership. Digital learning tools like the Green Management Module play a vital role in fostering long-term environmental resilience and policy integration.

<description>The moderating roles of financing return and attention effects of digital economy index and green financing development among small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
Li, Dan
This study aimed to explore the relationship between the digital economy index and the development of green financing among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in China, and to examine the moderating roles of financing, return, and attention effects on this relationship. Utilizing a quantitative research design and secondary research method, data was collected from various databases and reports, covering green SMEs listed on the GEM and NEEQ from 2018 to 2022. Data was processed and analyzed using SPSS and Stata software. Principal component analysis was employed to construct the digital economy index, while descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were conducted to examine the relationship between the digital economy index and green financing development. Additionally, moderating effect models were established to assess the roles of financing, return, and attention effects. Despite a low overall level, the findings revealed consistent growth in the digital economy index and a positive trend in green financing development. The financing effect eased SME financing constraints, the return effect reduced financial asset return disparities, and the attention effect increased public and investor interest in green SMEs. Correlation and regression analyses revealed a significant positive relationship between the digital economy index and green financing development. Moderating effects showed that financing and return effects weakened, while the attention effect strengthened the relationship. The study concludes that digital economy advancements significantly promote green financing among SMEs. Although financing constraints and return disparities weakened this relationship, public and investor attention enhanced it. The moderating effects of financing constraints, return disparities, and investor attention must be considered in policy formulation.

<description>The influence of service experience on customer satisfaction in the pet service industry in Guangdong, China
Chen, Junning
This survey-correlational study explored the influence of service experience on customer satisfaction in the pet service industry in Guangdong, China, in 2024. Data were gathered from 500 conveniently selected pet owners, representing a diverse demographic spread in age, sex, personal income, dog breeds, and number of dogs. The research instrument, a researcher-designed questionnaire validated by industry experts, assessed various facets of service experience—sensory, functional, action, emotional, and social aspects—alongside customer satisfaction levels. The study used descriptive statistics to analyze demographic data and inferential statistics to explore differences and relationships in service experience and satisfaction metrics. Initial findings indicate that overall satisfaction levels were significantly influenced by varied service experiences, with specific nuances across different demographics. The results underscored that tailored service delivery enhances satisfaction levels. This research concluded that understanding the dynamics between service experience components and customer satisfaction can contribute to strategic improvements in the pet service sector. Recommendations for future research and practical applications in service policy and training are discussed to optimize satisfaction and service delivery in Guangdong’s competitive pet service market.
