<summary type="text">Padayon: An original theme song for the Ilonggo indie film "Salvi"
Sotto, Rodrigo J. Jr.
This descriptive-analytical study determined the musical identity of Padayon as an original theme song for the Ilonggo Indie film SALVI. A total of thirty (30) participants who were graduates of Music Education and three (3) jurors purposively selected by the researcher based on achievement in the field of music, expertise, composition, and recognition participated in this study. The data were obtained through the use of a researcher-made questionnaire-checklist and an interview guide. The data were analyzed through mean and standard deviation. To strengthen the validity of the study, methodological triangulation was used through Researchers' Analysis followed by the Jurors Evaluation, and lastly, the Audience Evaluation. Narratives that were transcribed, analyzed, and documented by the researcher were based on the researcher's personal analysis, jurors' evaluation, and audience evaluation as per use of the original composition Padayon in the Indie film SALVI. Findings revealed that the elements of music were used appropriately in the film. In harmony, the key signature, chords, scales, and instruments were suited to the musical arrangement. Melody confirms that the melodic scale, melodic movement, and melodic impact suits the film's post-apocalyptic genre. Texture confirms that blended parts, polyphonic texture, equalization, and mixing achieved the character and plot build up in the film Salvi. Timbre states that the combination of affected sounds like a voice, guitar, drums, and orchestra instruments suits the overall impact of the film. Rhythm revealed that the tempo, rhythmic movement of the instrument, and voice complement each other in achieving the chaotic scenes of the film Salvi. Dynamics confirms that the overall volume and balance of the mix assisted in creating a chaotic and violent scenario. Lastly, the researcher came up with a researcher-made blueprint entitled LATAG: A Musical Ideology in Film Making. Latag is a Tagalog term (also used interchangeably in Hiligaynon) which means to spread out, to unfold and lay on the ground. Latag was used in this musical ideology to incorporate the integration of music and its use in films. These principles are featured in LATAG design figuratively presented inside a movie reel. The interlocking hexagons were positioned at the center of the steering reel which represents the film industry with the different elements in music encircles it which represents the music composition in film making. These identified ideologies of "LATAG" are factors that have hoped maneuvered the composer in creating theme songs in the film SALVI. Generally, the outcome revealed that the melody, rhythm, duration timbre, harmony, and dynamics of the song Padayon were appropriate to the Ilonggo Indie film Salvi. Harmony scored 3.87 out of 4 as perfect score the key signature, chords, scales, and instruments were suited to the musical arrangement. Melody (M=3.85) confirms that the melodic scale, melodic movement, and melodic impact are appropriate. Texture (M=3.84) agrees that blended parts, polyphonic texture, equalization, and mixing achieved the character and plot build up in the film Salvi. Timbre (M=3.80) states that the combination of affected sounds like a voice, guitar, drums, and orchestra instruments suits the overall impact of the film. Rhythm (M=3.86) revealed that the tempo, rhythmic movement of the instrument, and voice complement each other to achieve the message of the film Salvi. Dynamics (M=3.76) confirms that the overall volume and balance of the mix are appropriate to the Ilonggo Indie film Salvi.

<summary type="text">A study of the recreational activities of teachers at Central Philippine University
Jamora, Ida Lea Roxas
Educational agencies of various types have made studies of the different phases of a teacher's life but few of these agencies have exerted effort in studying the teacher's leisure time activities.&#13;
The nature of teaching and its varied activities create a need for recreation and social activities. As Hounchell expressed it. “Relaxation and personal enjoyment constitute a normal outlet from hours of school duty of a routine kind."&#13;
Children from all walks of life attend elementary school. It is difficult to determine what vital interests and skills that each child takes from school into life outside of the classroom. It is believed that teachers exert a tremendous influence in the acquisition of interests and attitudes toward living. There appears to be a need, therefore, to study the leisure activities of teachers.&#13;
&#13;
Statement of the problem. It is the purpose of this study (1) to determine what teachers, working at Central Philippine University in Iloilo City, Philippines, report they do in their free time; (2) to show the relation between choices of leisure activities engaged in by teachers and such factors as age, sex, marital status; and (3) to show what these teachers report as their reasons for participating in or not participating in a list of 68 activities presented to them in a questionnaire.&#13;
Importance of the study. Teachers are looked up to as public examples and models for young people in the community. What they do or say becomes the center of attention. Their manner of living in all respects, their habits in all matters, their appearance and their choice of amusements and other types of behavior become frequent topics of community discussion. Even speech, posture, social engagements and dates come in for attention. This is especially true of teachers in the Philippines.&#13;
Teachers are grown people and accepted leaders in the community. They have the right to choose their own recreations. However, they must bear in mind the risks that go with their choices of activities. Any item which may be looked at with question by any considerable number of adults or which would cause young people to be disappointed in their teacher shall call for careful choice.&#13;
Hounchell in his article "Social Activities for Teachers" suggested the following points:&#13;
1. Acceptable social activity is a mark of personality and individual adjustment to any current situation.&#13;
2. Discreteness is a positive virtue in all the choices a teacher will make because of the necessary dignity and position of leadership that belongs to teachers.&#13;
3. There is a tendency toward liberality in recreation and social standards in most locations, but it is well that teachers practice self-criticism and forbearance in activities while establishing themselves.&#13;
Central Philippine University is one of those educational institutions which strives for high standards in both the scholastic achievement and moral reputation of its students and teachers. Smoking, gambling, drinking of intoxicating drinks and dancing in public places or engaging in certain recreational activities which the University considers as questionable are frowned upon. Teacher contracts state that no faculty or member of its staff should indulge in smoking, gambling of any kind, use of intoxicating drinks as beverage or be seen in public places where the teacher's or the school's reputation is at stake. It is possible that not all of the teachers at Central Philippine University observe these regulations. It is upon this possibility, therefore, that this study has been based.&#13;
This study does not attempt to judge the teacher’s behavior but to present an analysis of data secured from a questionnaire prepared purposely for the study and to find implications therein for future improvements in educational policies and practices.

Porter, Josefina Y.
It was the purpose of this study to find out how useful the entrance requirements of the U.P. High School were in the prediction of the academic success of incoming high school students. Specifically, this research design aimed to discover the relationship existing between each of the individual requirements for entrance; that is, the elementary average grade, the interview, and the entrance examinations, and the academic achievements of the students under study in the first two years in the high school, as measured by marks or grades. This study will attempt to answer the following questions:&#13;
1. What relationship exists between the teacher’s ratings in the interview of incoming high school students and their academic achievements for each of the first two years in high school?&#13;
2. What relationship exists between the results of the entrance examinations of incoming high school students and their academic achievements for each of the first two years in high school?&#13;
3. What relationship exists between the ratings for the elementary grades of the incoming high school students and their academic grades for each of the first two years of high school?&#13;
4. How do the relationships between the aforementioned measures taken individually compare with the relationship obtaining between the composite ratings and the academic achievements for each of the first two years in high school?

Statement of the Problem&#13;
This study has two general objectives. First, to describe the extent of exposure to sex—related media; and to ascertain their attitudes toward and intention to engage in sexual activities in their premarital state.&#13;
Second, to determine whether mass media exposure is related to adolescents’ attitudes toward and intention to engage in sexual activities in their premarital state.
