This study is aimed to determine the preferences of CPU Social Sciences students between Library and Google and the factors that affect their choice of information source. Specifically, the following objectives were answered by the study: (1) describe the profile of CPU Social Science students; (2) identify the information source preference of the respondents; and (3) determine and analyze the factors that affect their choice. Applying the Uses and Gratifications Theory, a research-made questionnaire was used to gather the data. It was found out that majority (98%) of the respondents prefer to use Google over Library. In ranking the factors that affect their choices, it was found out that majority of the respondents perceives accessibility (62%) and time consumption (62%) as an extremely important factor. Meanwhile interactivity (52%) comes next, followed by reliability (40%) and lastly time consumption (24%). Among the factors, only time consumption (14%) was perceived by the respondents as not important in choosing an information source.

This study is a comparative analysis on films A Dangerous Life (1988) and Aparisyon (2012) on how life was depicted during the Marcos Regime in each film. Specifically, the study answered the following objectives: (1) To analyze and compare each film according to: Subtext, Main Conflict, Plot, and Characters, (2) To determine whether the agenda setting power of the media is evident, (3) To evaluate the angle used in framing the Marcos regime, (4) To determine the role the media played in both films. The researcher applied the agenda-setting theory of the media as she closely analysed and compared each film. It was found out that Life in the Marcos regime as portrayed in the film A Dangerous Life was tumultuous where supporting the wrong side can cost a person his or her life. The agenda-setting power was very evident in this film from the title “A Dangerous Life” it already suggests that life during that regime was a dangerous one. Similarly life in the Marcos administration as depicted in the film Aparisyon was an anxious one, where no one was safe and no one can be trusted. It showed that life was perilous for everyone whether they may be in the core of government, Manila or in secluded areas far from the political centre.

Facebook is a social networking website that connects and shares information through posting pictures and status with the rest of friends online. It provides technological features that allow users to present their identity with personal information to others such as friends, family members, co-workers or even strangers. The main goal of this study is to identify the motivational gratifications of Mass Communication students of Central Philippine University through Facebook exposure, usage and behavior outcome incentive. This research study used the survey method to determine the answers to the objectives. The researcher used survey instrument to analyze and identify factors contributing to Facebook usage, exposure and behavior among youth. The study surveyed the students from Mass Communication students of Central Philippine University SY 2016-2017. The main objective of the study is to describe the profile of the respondents as to sex, year level and time spent on Facebook. Findings reveal that majority of the respondents are female, belong to the 2nd year level of Mass Communication and spend 4-8 hours logged on to Facebook. Students are motivated to log on to Facebook for pastime purposes to watch and share videos. Finding also reveal Students use the new Facebook “React” feature on the “Like” icon to act on the motivation. Majority of the respondents who use social networking sites recognized Facebook as their preferred social media site.

This research study was designed to determine the perception of students on factors associated on what makes a movie trailer interesting. Specifically, the study answered the following objectives (1) determine the demographic profile of the respondents; (2) determine the perception of respondents on factors that what makes movie trailers interesting; and (3) determine the medium that affects the perception of respondents on on factors associated on what made a movie trailer interesting. A total of 68 enrolled Mass Communication students of Central Philippine University during the second semester of the A.Y. 2015-2016 were chosen as the respondents of this study. This study was anchored by the theory established by Harold Lasswell which is the Laswellian Theory. The data were gathered through a survey using a validated researcher-made questionnaire. It was concluded that (1) most of the respondents were aged 18 and 20; (2) majority of the respondents were female; (3) majority of the respondents were in their fourth year; (4) most of the respondents believed that all the factors presented by the study were very important; and (5) most of the respondents perception were affected by the internet.
